CNSNRE 2022

Dear members of the scientific research and business communities,

The National Conference of New and Renewable Energy Sources (CNSNRE), now at its 20th edition, marks once again the progress made in the field of new and renewable energy sources, the development trends and promotes the outcomes and innovation of Romanian and international research in this field.

Anyone who would analyzes the topics covered over the years would find the great strides with increasingly demanding research and applications that culminated in the development of industrial energy capabilities based on sun or wind, hydropower systems, and heat pumps, all this considering the energy efficiency at industrial and residential level.

In this action, the Valahia University of Targoviste has a special merit both in promoting its own research by creating within the University the Energy Environment Research Department, a Research Centre led by Professor Nicolae Olariu and promoting this conference which, through the efforts of dr. Gabriela Măntescu (Valahia University of Targoviste – UVT) and Manuela Drăghicescu (Association of new and Renewable sources industries – SUNE), manages to create a promising framework for discussions and exchange of ideas between those interested in this field. It is with pride that we remember the pioneering of PV applications in buildings and the construction of the first Solar Amphitheater built during the establishment of the University, in Targoviste!

The central theme of this year’s CNSNRE Conference presents a series of promising results obtained by The National Institute for Research and Development in Electrical Engineering – ICPE-CA in the field of construction of hydroelectric equipment, and in analyzing the degradation of photovoltaic modules. The results of The National Research and Development Institute for Mechatronics and Measurement Technique obtained in the field of electric vehicle battery charging and in the circular economy are also to be appreciated.

Also, worth mentioning this year is the significant participation of the Valahia University of Targoviste researchers with interesting approaches to critical areas of interest: solar cells issues, solar radiation measurement equipment, educational systems for training those who will work in the field of new energy sources.

The organization of a workshop within the Conference that focuses on enhancing STEM learning through technology and on good practices in the field of unconventional energies broadens the transdisciplinary spectrum of the Conference, experts from the national and international research communities participating in the debate proposed by Advanced Technology Systems. We would like to thank researchers from Romania representing the Valahia University of Targoviste, the South Muntenia Regional Development Agency, and the West University of Timisoara, as well as from abroad from the NATO DEEP eAcademy, the Royal Institute of Technology – Sweden, the University of Thessaly – Greece, University of Central Lancashire Cyprus, Institute for Research and Technology Thessaly – Greece, South-West University – Bulgaria, for their contributions and for sharing valuable experiences.

In conclusion, I hope that this Conference will be a new step in the development of new energy sources, a recognition of the support given by the Valahia University of Targoviste for the development of the field and an acknowledgement of the development of this Conference that has now reached its 20th edition.
